Ok here it is would you be happy fishing for say 8 hrs in one swim possibly for one bite if that one bite might be a double? I regularly fish a few swims where im willing to say sit it out although they have not been that productive this year. I fish usually fish and listen to the radio to pass the time anyone else here willing to wait it out.
Posted a couple of pics of hard earned fish the second being the fruits of say 30hrs fishing towards the end of the season caught on the last day 9pm sweet.
Clive,
You'll get differing opionions on this one mate..............I know Pete Tesch and Paul Hiom would probably advocate moving and trying several swims and Pete in particular has his own (very successful) way of searching them out on most rivers...............If I know the river and swims and where the fish are likely to be, I will tend to sit it out in one spot on the premise that they will probably feed at some point..............
I tend to come unstuck on a stretch which I am less familiar with, where-by the demons in my head, telling me to sit it out overcome the rational thought that I should really be searching for some fish.............
If it were an exact science, it wouldn't be so much fun and so addictive though, would it ?
Paul.
It really does depend on where i'm fishing and what i'm anticipating. I do have a couple of swims on the warks avon where i will sit it out for a biggun and there are also areas in general that i know will switch on if i'm patient enough so i will sit tight in the hope that some fish will move over my bait at some stage. But, sometimes, when nothing is happening i will go on a walk about and try to find fish. In winter, i tend to move around more because it is harder to draw fish to your swim, whereas if you present a bait on their noses, they will often take it.
Hi, I used to fish like this 2 seassons ago. I would turn at the water bait a swim that produced a fish or two at one time and wait for the fish to come and have lunch or dinner. After half a dozen blanks I thought that something have to change if I wanted to catch some fish.
So I started to bait 4 swims with 5 small baitdroppers with maggots, cheasepaste, chease, luncheonmeat & of course the magic seed-hemp-. On the hook I was starting with luncheonmeat then a small cube of chease and if those wouldn't work maggots.
In every swim I would stay for maximum 30' or if I cought a fish I would move to the next swim.
I think that roving is in most situations better than the "sit & wait" tehnique.
Well, at least for me it is.
Tight lines!
Mihai!
I fall asleep if i stay in a swim for more than an hour. Seriously i fish more mobile in the winter but i am sure the average size of fish is better the more static you fish. But it's what i enjoy doing
