new to barbel

hi guys
i ve been fishing since i was 11 i started more or less in match fishing and manage to do well ticking a few wins under my belt untill i joined the army in 98
i am based just outside bedford at the the mo and i would be silly not to take advantage of being so close to the ouse if any1 can help me with any tips on where abouts to fish and what to look for i would really appritricie it
i been asking around and there seems to be alot of people that are not willing to give up some of there secrets
so please get in touch guys and if your local to me give shout
