Hi, my name is Pete. I live near Wantage and fish upper Thames, Cherwell, and river Kennet.Looking forward to the new season, and a few more fish on the bank.
Looking forward to the new season already, you got your chores finished quickly :-) . I think i'm in for a bit of decorating and sorting out the gardens, cars, garage etc. I am thinking about trying some new venues come the 16th.
I enjoy the break as well, gives us a chance to reflect on what weve acheived, what we could do better maybe, where we want to try next, And the fish get a holiday and banks get a chance to grow back. Oddly enough never fished the kennet properly, just the odd visit, but maybe in a season or two. So many rivers to go at all within an hour from Swindon. Just waiting for the tench to wake up on the water park :-)
PAUL I must admit i have not fished lakes since my old Carp days on Horse Shoe lake Lechlade. My fetish (if you like) are Barbel and Chub from small rivers. Pete
Pete, used to cycle to horseshoe from highworth, to fish for the carp about 30 years ago, long before the carp society had it. Used to get them on luncheon meat back then, great fun. I fish the pits in the closed season and sometimes past the 16th if i'm sidetracked by the tench, carp or bream.
hi pete.another oxon member here.i have not fished the cherwell much these past few years altthough it is my local
river{living in kidlington} i mainly fish the kennet at padworth now and a few sorties to the warks avon.
i have been thinking about the upper thames again recently is it worth thinking about?
you dont have to give your secrets away just a comment or two!
all the best.nick adams
Hi,Nick Upper Thames can be verry rewarding.Like other rivers location is the key.But you have the added problem of Boat traffic!!!! If i were you i would try Tadpole bridge area or Inglesham. Regards pete, are you
a member of reading and district angling club by any chance?
hi pete, thanks for reply.no i am not a member of rdaa, but a couple of my mates are buying tickets this year.
unfortunately the bank manager is hovering over me at the minute,so i am trying to keep him quiet!
i have fished the calpac bank the other side of padworth bridge.that costs £76 {last seasons price}
including night fishing rights for the last two seasons.i am going to give it one more season then
consider the reading ticket.i have fished downstream of tadpole bridge about eight years back
i caught a few up to 9.13 on hemp/maggot heavily baited.this is an area that i am seriously
considering for this year, especially if the warks avon is still a grueller for this season like the
last two years.all the best.nick adams.
