Tony it's a shame you couldn't get on tomorrow, it should fish well.

I've been on today. The river has been up about 6ft but it's dropping like a brick with plenty of colour and just a bit of crap coming down. I managed 1 barbel of 6lb

Unlucky tony! I've managed to get my first Barbel of the season on Tuesday, Well two actually. One was 5lbish the other 9lb 3oz. I think Barbel sport should start to improve over the next week or so due to the rain we have had over the last few days. This should start them spread out from their spawning sites. The river is well up at the moment but if it doesn't put to much more water down tonight I think it will be sock on for tomorrow evening. Good luck fellas!

Doc, if you know where they are what help are you looking for? If it's bait I suppose you could start by filling the place in with cheap brown crumb before you start, this should hold them in the swim, then use a open end feeder with corn on the hook. I would definitely avoid worm and maggot unless you wanna get snigged out. There are some lengths that hold bream to over 12lb, My best Ribble Bream is just short of 10lb but i caught that by accident one winter when I was Chubbing. Good luck fella!

Tony, It's been a strange season so far for me. I ain't had a Barbel yet but I suppose it's still a bit early. The Eel's have been climbing my rod though no matter what I put on the hook, some of em have been enormous. The river seems to be thick with them this year.
