Pete,
Any quality pin can be used for any venue, just buy the best that you can afford. I personally like the four inch diameter pins which I can use for trundling or feeder fishing, these I had made to my spec. I also use a couple of Barbel Catcher pins now and again but at four and a half inch diameter I feel a little less in control casting accurately for longer distances. The up side of these reels is the variable ratchet which can be adjusted to suit varying flows. Once again look at what is on the market make your choice and enjoy using them.
